Early in the project, SCS helped with budgeting and provided value engineering ideas. Prices were guaranteed for the duration of the 18-month project. SCS coordinated phasing and assisted with plan interpretation and troubleshooting. Adjusting to last-minute plan changes, SCS also planned out long lead time specialty items to keep product flowing to the job site.

On this project, SCS connected our customer with Huber Engineered Wood Products and their integrated air and water-resistive barrier exterior sheathing solution, Zip Sheathing. SCS also met the challenge of the customer’s very aggressive schedule with deliveries consistently 2-3 days ahead of need on site.

Site conditions, labor challenges, and contradictions between contract drawings and site conditions required SCS to be very flexible with this project in design, production, and delivery.  SCS design drawings were adjusted and utilized by the field team to finalize the design. Unique plan details required several design adjustments by the SCS design department.  The SCS purchasing department also adjusted to changes involving multiple specialty products, as needed, to better suit the project.

This multiple buildings project presented a unique issue when, half-way through the project, the owner selected decking product was discontinued by the manufacturer.  SCS was able to pool resources from multiple vendor locations in order to complete the project.  SCS works hard to develop solutions when unique issues arise on a project, this was no exception.

On this multiple buildings project, after reviewing progress on the first couple of buildings, we were able to streamline our material list and save the customer substantial cost on the remaining buildings.  These savings allowed us to correct a building design error, at the decks, that could have had long-term structural impacts.
